Meet the new TVR Griffith!TVR returns with a new 500bhp car capable of speeds in excess of 200mph
The wait is over! Meet the new TVR Griffith. Designed from the ground up and powered by a Ford 5 litre V8 engine, tuned by the folks at Cosworth, this does not dissapoint. Performance wise, figures currently being chucked around are 400BHP per tonne, with a peak power of 500BHP. But what about speed? TVR haven’t skimped there either. They say it will do 0 to 62 in under 4 seconds, with a top speed in excess of 200MPH. On the design front, it’s perhaps not as radical as some of their past cars, such as the Sagaris, but it’s striking and impressive. Note the side exhausts behind the front wheels! To keep it light (below 1250kg), the body is a carbon composite material – no more fibreglass.
The interior? As with the body, it is not as outrageous as previous TVRs but it has a certian charm. We’re happy to see the familiar bulbous gear knob among other things. A three-button cluster to the right of the steering wheel puts the most important switches at your fingertips, namely ‘sports’ mode, traction control on/off and a third button we haven’t yet been able to identify.
Lastly, the chassis. Designed by Gordon Murray Design using their iStream technology, this is sure to impress.
Check out the pictures below and stay tuned for some exclusive video footage of the new car.
